A young Syrian woman who helped save other refugees while crossing the Aegean Sea is swimming for a team of refugees at the Olympics in Rio. Eighteen-year-old Yusra Mardini won her heat in the women's 100-meter butterfly event, but did not qualify for the semifinals. She'll have another chance to swim for gold when she takes part in the 100-meter freestyle competition on August 10. Mardini fled from Syria with her sister in 2014. They were among several passengers who reportedly helped other refugees who were struggling to swim and pushed their boat to land during a dangerous crossing to a Greek island.
