OSCE Chairman Continues South Caucasus Tour In Georgia

The OSCE's chairman in office is in Georgia, continuing his tour of the South Caucasus.

Didier Burkhalter, who is also the Swiss foreign minister, arrived in Tbilisi from the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, on June 2.

On June 3, Burkhalter visited areas in Georgia close to the administrative boundary with breakaway region of South Ossetia, where he hailed the activities of the EU monitoring group.

Burkhalter is due to hold talks with Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili and Georgia' s other top officials to discuss such issues as the situation in South Ossetia and Georgia's other breakaway region of Abkhazia.

Burkhalter's tour of the region will end on June 4 with a visit to the Armenian capital, Yerevan.

In Yerevan, Burkhalter is expected to discuss Armenia-EU ties and the situation regarding the disputed territory of Nagorno-Karabakh.
