Pakistan Military Jets Hit Alleged Militant Hideouts

Pakistani officials say air force jets have bombed militant hideouts in the country's volatile northwest.

Reports said that 15 suspected militants were believed to have been killed.

The air strikes hit villages in the North Waziristan tribal region, a hotbed of militant activity that borders Afghanistan to the west.

The air strikes come as government efforts to negotiate a peace deal with the Pakistani Taliban militants who operate out of the region have stalled.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has favored peace talks over military action to end the bloodshed in the northwest.
