Suicide Car-Bomb Attack Hits Pakistani Police Station

ISLAMABAD -- A suicide bomb attack has struck a police station in northwest Pakistan.

An unnamed police official at that station in Bannu city told RFE/RL that one policeman and two female civilians were killed.

He said seven policemen and 21 others were injured.

The attacker reportedly drove his vehicle loaded with explosives into the perimeter wall of the police station.

The explosion seriously damaged the station and led to the collapse of several nearby buildings.

No one has claimed responsibility for the bombing.

Bannu, the main city of Bannu district, is located near the border of the North Waziristan tribal district, a stronghold of Al-Qaeda- and Taliban-linked militants.
