Unidentified gunmen riding motorcycles have killed three paramilitary troops deployed outside a mosque in Pakistan's largest city, Karachi.
Major General Bilal Akbar, the director-general of the paramilitary Rangers, said a fourth Ranger was wounded in the November 20 attack.
Akbar also said that the assailants likely sought to target the Sunni mosque during Friday Prayers or its affiliated seminary.
Karachi, the capital of Pakistan's southern province of Sindh, has been the site of frequent attacks in the past.
The Rangers and other Pakistani security forces have been engaged in a three-year-long operation against militants and crime in the southern city.
