Pakistan Frees U.S. Man After Bullets Found In Baggage

Pakistani police say an employee of the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad was released after being held for questioning by Pakistani officials in connection with the discovery of bullets in his luggage.

A Pakistani senior police superintendent, Tahir Ayub, said the American was about to fly from the northwestern city of Peshawar to Islamabad when he was taken into police custody on February 14.

He was released after four hours when officials from the U.S. Consulate in Peshawar produced documents showing the man worked at the consulate and had diplomatic status.

No explanation was given concerning the presence of around 10 bullets in the employee's baggage.
