Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik says the government in Islamabad will ask Interpol to arrest the country's former president and military chief Pervez Musharraf in connection with the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
Speaking to the Sindh Province Assembly in Karachi on February 21, Malik accused Musharraf of not providing adequate security to Bhutto when she was killed by a gun and bomb attack on December 27, 2007 near Islamabad.
Malik blamed the late militant leader Baitullah Mehsud, the banned Islamist group Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, and the Haqqani network for planning the murder.
He said 27 terrorist groups helped carry out the plan.
Musharraf -- who came to power through a bloodless military coup in 1999 -- has been living in London and Dubai since he resigned from the presidency in 2008.
