Two Pakistani Troops, One Civilian Wounded In Balochistan Blast

Two members of Pakistan's paramilitary Frontier Corps were wounded in an explosion in Pakistan's southwestern city of Quetta on February 7.

The separatist Baloch National Army (BNA) claimed responsibility for the attack, which came days after intense fighting between Baluch separatists and Pakistani security forces in Balochistan's Naushki and Panjgur districts.

Quetta is Balochistan's capital and its largest city.

Police officer Naveed Alam told journalists that the blast was caused by a roadside bomb and the target was a paramilitary patrol.

A civilian passerby was also wounded in the blast.

Separately, a hand grenade was lobbed at a police station in Balochistan's Kharan area, police officials said, adding that the attack did not cause casualties. No group so far has claimed responsibility.

Resource-rich Balochistan, which borders Afghanistan and Iran, has been plagued by sectarian violence, attacks by Islamist militants, and a separatist insurgency that has led to thousands of casualties since 2004.
