Pope Francis said on July 27 that a series of recent terrorist attacks, including the murder of a priest inside a Roman Catholic church in France, is proof that the "world is at war."
The pope said he was not talking about a war of religion, but rather, a war of domination of people and economic interests.
The pope made the remarks aboard a plane shortly before arriving in Krakow, Poland, for a visit to a five-day Roman Catholic event known as World Youth Day.
The event is being attended by hundreds of thousands of believers who have registered from 187 different countries.
However, the celebrations were overshadowed by the July 26 slaying of a priest in France’s Normandy region by Islamic State militants.
