Powerful Quake Hits Near Indonesia's Bali

A powerful earthquake measuring 6.0 in magnitude has struck off Indonesia's popular resort island of Bali.

No tsunami alert has been issued.

Reports speak of some damage to structures, but there were no immediate reports of injuries.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake was centered 100 kilometers southwest of Bali, at a depth of 60 kilometers beneath the ocean floor.

A giant quake off Indonesia on December 26, 2004, triggered a tsunami in the Indian Ocean that killed some 230,000 people, most of them in Indonesia's province of Aceh.
