Putin Arrives In Argentina

Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in Argentina, the third stop in his visit to Latin America.

Putin will meet President Cristina Kircher, with the two sides expected to sign bilateral agreements during the talks.

Putin arrived in Argentina after a brief stop in Nicaragua following his visit to Cuba.

In Havana on July 11, Putin and Cuban President Raul Castro witnessed the signing of a dozen bilateral agreements, including for oil exploration off the island's coast. Russia also forgave 90 percent of the debt previously owned by Cuba.

Both Cuba and Nicaragua were strong allies of the Soviet Union.

From Argentina, Putin will travel to Brazil, where he is to take part in the BRICS grouping of emerging market economies on July 15 and 16.
