Yemen's Al-Qaeda branch has confirmed that a U.S. air strike killed one of its top commanders in late August.
A statement posted on a website of the militant network says Qaed al-Thahab and one other person were killed by a U.S. air strike in Yemen’s southern province of Baitha.
Yemeni security officials had reported the death of Thahab, leader of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, on August 30.
