Officials in Islamabad say an earthquake that was centered in Afghanistan has been felt in northwestern Pakistan, causing panic in towns and cities.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage on either side of the border.
Mohammad Riaz, a scientist at the Pakistan Meteorological Department, says the 6.0 magnitude quake was felt in the northwestern city of Peshawar and several nearby areas on June 14.
He says the quake's epicenter was located in the Hindu Kush mountains in neighboring Afghanistan.
Peshawar is the capital of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, which borders Afghanistan.
Pakistan and Afghanistan are often hit by earthquakes.
The casualty tolls can be high due to the collapse of mud brick buildings and landslides in mountain areas.
