A senior police officer, a theater director, a diplomat, and a construction worker are among the many who have taken great personal risks by supporting anti-government protests in Belarus. Some have sacrificed their careers to denounce a brutal crackdown on demonstrators who accuse President Alyaksandr Lukashenka of rigging the August 9 election and want him to resign after 26 years in power.
