Moscow's two main international airports have announced a total ban on liquids in carry-on baggage amid a security crackdown ahead of the Winter Olympics in Sochi.
The press services for Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo airports announced on January 8 that passengers must dispose of "all liquids, including personal hygiene items, cosmetics, medicines, liquids, sprays, and gels in any amount" before entering the registration areas for flights.
The ban also applies to "paint, clay, and glue." It is still possible to have such items in checked baggage.
Prior to the ban, it was possible to bring up to 100 milliliters of liquids on a flight.
Passengers with medical conditions may carry medications only if they have proper medical forms.
