Russia's Emergency Situations Ministry says it will send a plane to bring back Supreme Court Chairman Vyacheslav Lebedev from Ghana, where he is recovering after a car accident.

Ministry spokesman Oleg Voronov said on September 17 that a plane with medical personnel and equipment onboard was being sent.

Lebedev is being treated at a military hospital in Ghana's capital, Accra.

Russian officials have spoken with Lebedev and said his condition is satisfactory.

Lebedev's convoy was traveling near the town of Tsito in the southeastern Volta region late September 16 when a truck suddenly veered into its lane.

Lebedev was in Ghana to address a meeting of the Ghana Bar Association in the city of Ho, some 160 kilometers from Accra.

Traffic accidents are a common in Ghana due to the poor condition of its roads and bad driving.
