Voters Back Putin's United Russia Party, With Some Dissent

Russians had a total of 14 parties to choose from in elections for the federal parliament, the State Duma, on September 18. As official results were announced a day later, it was clear that the ruling United Russia party, backed by President Vladimir Putin, would maintain its lock on the legislature. The results appeared broadly to reflect the opinions of voters interviewed by RFE/RL in the southern city of Krasnoyarsk as they left the polls. But there were some dissenting views too.
