Reported Cannibalism Investigated In Southern Russia

Construction workers discovered a mobile phone containing photographs of the man posing with various body parts.

Russian investigators are looking into reports of a cannibalism case after a man’s phone was found containing selfie photos that showed body parts.

The Investigative Committee said on September 25 that officials had detained a 35-year-old man in the southern city of Krasnodar.

The committee said in a statement on its website that the man was suspected of killing a woman earlier this month after a drunken brawl at an abandoned building.

The committee said construction workers on the scene discovered a mobile phone containing photographs of the man posing with various body parts.

The investigators said when they searched the man's home, they found body parts in jars of brine along with pieces of meat of "an unknown origin" in the kitchen.

The samples were being tested further, it said.
