The chief of Russia's Air Force has told journalists that the military will modernize all the country's air bases by 2020.

General Viktor Bondarev said on December 23 that more than 20 air bases would be rebuilt in the next few years and "the entire air base network" would be expanded and upgraded.

Bondarev noted that all the Russian military's air bases were built in the 1950s and "they've grown old and no longer meet the demands of today."
