Navalny's Father Summoned To Investigative Committee

The father of Russian opposition leader Aleksei Navalny has been summoned to appear before federal investigators.

Investigative Committee officials said that Anatoly Navalny was sent an e-mail summons after his employer refused to provide a fax number.

Aleksei Navalny wrote on his Twitter account that the electronic subpoena did not give any details on why his father was being called in and because of that, his father's lawyers are filing a complaint about the e-mail.

Aleksei Navalny, a vocal opponent of Russian President Vladimir Putin, has expressed an interest in running for president.

He is currently on trial after being charged with embezzling some $510,000 from a lumber company while he was working for the governor of Kirov Oblast.

Aleksei Navalny insists the case is politically motivated.
