Russian Opposition Figure Navalny's Brother Moved From Jail

The brother of a prominent Russian opposition activist has been transferred from a Moscow jail to a prison outside the capital.

Aleksei Navalny's brother, Oleg, was convicted in December of defrauding French cosmetics company Yves Rocjer and sentenced to three and a half years in prison.

Oleg Navalny's lawyer Kirill Polozov said March 4 he was transferred from a Moscow jail to a prison colony elsewhere in Russia to serve his sentence.

Aleksei Navalny, the key driving force behind the 2011-2012 mass protests in Moscow, received a suspended sentence in the same case.

Both brothers rejected the charges as being part of a political vendetta by President Vladimir Putin.

Aleksei Navalny is currently serving a 15-day sentence for distributing leaflets on the subway.

A court rejected his plea for early release to attend the funeral on March 3 of slain Putin critic Boris Nemtsov.
