Policeman Killed, Three Wounded In Separate Attacks In Russia's North Caucasus

One policeman has been killed and one wounded in Russia's North Caucasus republic of Kabardino-Balkaria.

Russian Interior Ministry said two armed men opened fire at the police officers in the republic's capital, Nalchik, late on February 6.

In a separate attack in the North Caucasus republic of Daghestan, two police officers were wounded by unknown assailants.

The incident took place in the capital, Makhachkala, late on February 6.

Investigations have been launched into the two attacks.

Islamic insurgencies have spread across Russia's volatile North Caucasus region after two separatist wars in neighboring Chechnya.
