Evacuation Under Way In Russian City Near Kazakh Border After Dam Bursts

Unverified footage circulating on Telegram showed water gushing through a break in a low-slung earthen dam.

A dam burst on April 5 in the Russian city of Orsk in the Ural Mountains and an evacuation is under way, local emergency services said. TASS quoted the Emergencies Ministry as saying that up to 4,000 houses in a suburban area of Orsk could be inundated as a result of the dam breach. Local emergency services said in a statement that they were working to evacuate residents and strengthen the dam.
