A supporter of Pussy Riot member Nadezhda Tolokonnikova protests outside the Federal Penitentiary Service building in Moscow on September 25.

Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, the jailed member of the Pussy Riot performance-art group who is on the seventh day of a hunger strike, has been transferred to a hospital.

Her husband, Pyotr Verzilov, said Tolokonnikova was moved on September 29 to a hospital outside the penal colony in the Mordovia Republic where she is serving her two-year prison sentence.

Verzilov also said Tolokonnikova's lawyers had been barred from visiting or speaking to her since September 26.

Tolokonnikova began a hunger strike on September 23 to protest conditions at her prison and alleged death threats by a prison official.

On the fifth day of her hunger strike, she was moved to the medical unit of the prison.

Tolokonnikova was jailed over a protest against President Vladimir Putin's rule in a Moscow cathedral in early 2012.
