Two Moscow Research Institutes Hit By Fire

At least one person has been injured in one of two explosions that struck research institutes in Moscow.

Police says one explosion started a fire inside the Epidemiology and Microbiology Research Institute in northwestern Moscow.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a gas tank had exploded in one of the labs.

Also on November 12, a fire broke out on the ground floor of a building accommodating a radio-engineering research institute in eastern Moscow.

The Moscow Emergency Situations Department says a large section of the institute is in flames.

Firefighters have managed to localize the fire and continue to work at the scene.

It is not clear what caused the fire in that building.
