Passengers Push Plane In Siberia In Freezing Temperatures

Dozens passengers in the Siberian town of Igarka got out to push a Russian airliner that was stuck on the runway amid temperatures below 50 degrees Celsius.

The Katekavia Airlines press service said on November 25 that while the Tupolev Tu-134 had stayed on the ground, "its landing gear got stuck to the air field's surface."

"To speed up departure passengers in fact helped the tug truck to get the aircraft moving," it added.

The senior assistant of the West-Siberian transport prosecutor, Oksana Gorbunova, said the airline's braking system got jammed in the cold temperatures.

The plane made it to Krasnoyarsk safely.

There were 74 passengers and seven crew members on board.

Videos of the incident surfaced on YouTube, going viral on a busy travel day in the United States.
