Security Forces Detain 21 Alleged Islamic Extremists In Siberia

Russian security officers have detained 21 suspected Islamic extremists in the city of Tobolsk in west Siberia.

Federal Security Service (FSB) officials in Tyumen Oblast said on August 29 that three of the detained suspects are foreign nationals.

They added that 40 books and brochures included in the list of materials defined by Russian authorities as extremist have been found in the apartments, where the suspects lived.

Two of the suspects had drugs in their possession when they were detained, the officials said.

Tobolsk is a historic city in Russia's Tyumen Oblast that borders with Kazakhstan in the south.
