Russia's Medvedeva Set World Record In Free Skating

Russian figure skater Yevgenia Medvedeva has broken the world record in the free-portion of the World Figure Skating Championships in the U.S. city of Boston.

Medvedeva, 16, on April 2 scored 150.10 points, breaking the previous mark of 150.06 set by South Korea's Kim Yuna at the Vancouver Olympic Games in 2010.

The performance moved Medvedeva up from third position to take the championship title. American Ashley Wagner took the silver, becoming the first U.S. woman to medal at the world championships in 10 years. Russian Anna Pogorilaya came in third.
