Russian Looters Of Plane Crash That Killed Polish President Sentenced

Emergency services work at the site in Smolensk where a plane carrying senior Polish officials crashed in 2010, killing 96 people.

Four former soldiers have been sentenced for stealing credit cards from Polish officials killed in an April 2010 plane crash.

The Smolensk Garrison Court in Russia sentenced one man to two years in jail.

The other three received suspended prison terms of between 20 months and two years.

The men confessed to stealing credit cards from the crash victims.

An ATM's camera recorded them as they withdrew more than $2,000 using the stolen cards.

The men were among the soldiers assigned to cordon off the crash site.

The crash killed Poland’s President Lech Kaczynski and 95 other people.

Polish and Russian investigators have blamed pilot error for the crash, which occurred as the Russian-built airliner attempted to land in thick fog near Smolensk.
