Moscow Says Fighter Flew Close To U.S. Jet 'Not To Scare It'

The Russian Defense Ministry says one of its fighter jets flew close to a U.S. military aircraft over Syria to identify it, "not to scare it."

Quoted by the state TASS news agency, the ministry said its SU-30CM jet was within 2-3 kilometers of the U.S. plane during the incident on October 10.

On October 13, Washington said U.S. and Russian jets came within visual identification range over Syria where the two countries are carrying out separate bombing campaigns.
