Prosecutors Seek Suspended Sentence For Russian Woman Charged With 'Desecrating' Grave Of Putin's Parents

Prosecutors have asked a court in Russia's second-largest city, St. Petersburg, to convict and hand a suspended three-year prison term to a 60-year-old woman charged with the hatred-based desecration of the grave of the parents of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Irina Tsybanyova was arrested in October after she left a note at the grave of Putin's parents saying he “behaves awfully” and asking them to “undertake proper measures!” Tsybanyova does not deny that she placed the note at the grave but pleaded not guilty, insisting that her actions did not desecrate the grave.
