Russian Car Production Drops More Than 25 Percent

The production of passenger cars in Russia has declined by more than 25 percent in the first six months of 2015 compared to the same period last year.

The Russian state statistics service Rosstat said on August 17 that from January to July of this year 774,000 cars were made in Russian factories, a decline of 26.1 percent.

Russian auto exports also fell by 27 percent to 49,000 vehicles in the first six months of 2015.

The production of trucks in Russia dropped by 21.1 percent to 68,300 vehicles this year and bus production also fell by 13.4 percent in the first seven months of 2015 when compared to last year's total for the same period.

Avtovaz is Russia's biggest manufacturer of passenger cars while Kamaz is the top truck producer.
