Russia's Siberian Forests Hit By Wildfires

Officials in Russia say the severe wildfires that have been burning in Siberia have spread and become worse.

The Siberian Federal District in Russia says 104 forest fires covering an area of 140,471 hectares have been registered as of May 5.

Such Siberian regions as Zabaikalsky Krai, Krasnoyarsk Krai, and the republics of Tuva, Altai, Buryatia, and Khakassia have been affected by the fires.

Authorities in Zabaikalsky Krai and Buryatia have announced an emergency situation in the two regions.

Last week, a forest fire spread to a military ammunition warehouse in Zabaikalsky Krai, causing explosions that lasted for several hours and killed at least seven people.
