Saudi Arabia Arrested 149 Al-Qaeda Militants In Past Eight Months

Saudi Arabia says it has arrested 149 people from 19 cells linked to Al-Qaeda over the past eight months, and foiled attacks against government and security officials as well as journalists.

The Interior Ministry said that out of the 149, 124 were Saudis while the rest belonged to other nationalities.

In March, the kingdom arrested more than 100 militants who had been planning attacks on energy facilities in the world's top oil exporter.

They were reportedly backed by the Yemen-based Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.
