Two Serbian Soldiers Killed By Old NATO Cluster Bomb

Serbia's Defense Ministry says two Serbian military personnel were killed in the explosion of an old NATO cluster bomb.

According to the ministry, the two officers died while clearing a minefield that was left over from the 1999 war in Kosovo.

The incident happened near the officers' military barrack on Mt. Kopaonik on Serbia's border with Kosovo.

Hundreds of minefields, including unexploded cluster bombs, were left in Serbia following NATO's 78-day bombing campaign that stopped the crackdown by Serbian forces on Kosovo Albanian separatists.

Kosovo unilaterally declared independence from Serbia in 2008.
