PESHAWAR, Pakistan -- Militants have fired three rockets at an airport in Pakistan's northwestern city of Peshawar, killing at least three people and wounding more than 30.

The information minister of Khyber Pakhtunkwa Province, Mian Iftikhar Hussain, said two of the rockets damaged a wall surrounding Bacha Khan Airport during the attack on the night of December 15.

He said the third landed near a government building outside the facility.

Defense Minister Naveed Qamar said seven or eight militants launched the attack and at least four were killed in a gun battle with security forces after the rockets were launched.

Qamar added that an unexploded suicide vest was also recovered outside the airport walls.

Authorities say no militants entered the airport.
