Six Palestinians Reported Killed In Israeli Air Strikes

Palestinians inspect the damage at a smuggling tunnel following an Israeli air strike on the site at the border between Egypt and Gaza Strip in Rafah.

Reports say a series of Israeli air strikes has killed six Palestinians and wounded more than 20 others in a 24-hour period.

In the latest strike, early on August 25, two people were reported killed when Israeli warplanes targeted a facility belonging to the Islamic Jihad militant group in the northern Gaza Strip.

The Israeli military said it had also targeted a weapons storage facility in northern Gaza, and smuggling tunnels that run under Gaza's southern border with Egypt.

On August 24, Israel's military said it had registered 14 more rocket launchings by militants in Gaza toward Israel.

The flare-up in violence has disrupted a cease-fire that was agreed to on August 22 by Israel and Palestinian factions following days of violence that broke out after militants crossed into Israel from Egypt and killed eight Israelis.
