Suicide Attack Kills 9 In Iraq's Baquba

A suicide car bomb blast at a security checkpoint has killed nine people in a city northeast of Baghdad.

Officials said the attack on October 9 occurred when a suicide bomber drove his explosive-laden car into a police checkpoint at an entrance of Baquba’s central district of Shifta.

Seven police officers were among the dead, and 11 other people were wounded.

Baquba is the capital of the restive province of Diyala, where Kurdish and Iraqi forces have been battling the Islamic State extremist group.
