Suicide Bomber Kills At Least Three In Pakistan

People stretcher an injured victim away from the scene of a suicide bomb blast in Peshawar on January 30.

A suicide bomber has reportedly killed an Islamist militant commander and at least two other people in northwest Pakistan.

Reports quoted police as saying the bomber targeted commander Haji Akhunzada in a suburb of Peshawar, near the Afghan border on January 26.

Akhunzada was considered a significant force within the Ansar ul-Islam group based in the tribal district of Khyber, and had moved to Peshawar after escaping two previous assassination attempts in the past.

Pakistani officials blamed the rival militant group Lashkar-e-Islam for the killings.
