Syrian Rebels Seize Key Town Near Jordanian Border

Opposition activists say Syrian rebels have seized a strategic town near the Jordanian border.

The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the rebels captured the town of Dael on March 29 after a day of fierce fighting that killed at least 38 people, including a number of civilians.

The observatory said rebel forces destroyed three army checkpoints at the entrance to the town.

Dael is located on a key highway linking the southern Daraa Province with the capital, Damascus.

The observatory said the rebels control several towns and villages in Daraa, and that they are advancing towards the provincial capital.
