Double Bombing Hits Syrian City Of Homs

The Al-Zahraa neighborhood has been the target of multiple attacks, including last month (pictured), when at least 22 people were killed in a double suicide bombing claimed by the Islamic State extremist group.

A Syrian human rights monitoring group says 46 people were killed and dozens injured in a double car-bomb attack in the central Syrian city of Homs.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said most of those killed appeared to be civilians,

The governor of Homs, Talal Barazi, was quoted by Syrian state television as saying the death toll was 25 people.

Homs city is almost completely controlled by the Syrian government, and has regularly been targeted in bomb attacks.

Pro-Damascus Al-Ikhbariya television said the explosions took place in the Al-Zahraa district of the city.
