Syrian activists say twin suicide bomb blasts hit two restaurants in a Kurdish-controlled city in northeastern Syria on December 30, killing or wounding dozens of people.
The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said at least 16 people were killed and more than 22 others injured in the explosions in Qamishli, near the Turkish border.
Redur Xelil, a member of the Kurdish YPG militia told the Reuters news agency that the attack had most likely been carried out by the extremist Islamic State group, which the YPG is fighting in Syria's northeast.
