During fighting against Islamic State (IS) militants, U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces took control of a landmark clock tower in Raqqa, Syria, on Tuesday, August 22. The clock tower, at the end of Quwatli Street in Raqqa, can be seen in this video shot by Kurdish media. Identifying himself as belonging to the Northern Sun Battalion, which is part of the SDF alliance, the fighter says IS uses children as human shields while building barricades on the front line.
