Tajik Consulate In Almaty To Open Center To Help Labor Migrants

A center designed to assist Tajik labor migrants will begin operating at Tajikistan's General Consulate in Kazakhstan's largest city, Almaty.

Kazakhstan's Labor and Social Protection Ministry said the decision had been made public at a meeting of visiting Tajik Labor and Employment Minister Sumangul Tagoeva with her Kazakh counterpart, Tamara Duisenova, in Almaty on July 1.

No date for the opening of the center was announced.

Tagoeva said Tajikistan will establish the center for labor migrants since Kazakhstan is the second most popular country after Russia in the post-Soviet space in attracting labor migrants.

Duisenova said the Kazakh government is working on the modernization of the Kazakh law on migration to improve conditions for labor migrants in the country.

The ministers agreed on further cooperation in regulating the flow of labor migrants to Kazakhstan.
