Taliban Bans Women From Fitness Centers In Afghanistan

The Taliban has banned women from using fitness centers in Afghanistan, an official in Kabul said on November 10 in the hard-line militants' latest edict cracking down on women's rights and freedoms since they seized power more than a year ago. A spokesman from the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevent of Vice said the ban was being introduced because people were ignoring gender segregation orders and that women were not wearing the required head scarf, or hijab.
