Terror Suspect Hamza Appears In Court After Extradition

Abu Hamza al-Masri has been extradited from the U.K. to the United States.

Radical Muslim cleric Abu Hamza al-Masri has appeared in a New York court, hours after arriving in the United States after being extradited from Britain.

Hamza, who faces a range of terrorism charges related to supporting Al-Qaeda, complained through his lawyer that the prosthetic hooks he wears for hands had been removed by U.S. authorities.

Hamza is due to enter a plea in court on October 9.

Four other suspects who were extradited to the U.S. with Hamza pleaded not guilty.

All five were flown to the U.S. on October 6 after Britain's High Court rejected their final appeals.

All five men face life in prison if convicted of conspiring to launch terrorist attacks.

Under the terms of their extradition, they must be tried in U.S. civilian courts.
