A jailed barber in Tajikistan has been sentenced to life in prison for stabbing a warden to death with scissors.
Umed Teshaev's lawyer told RFE/RL's Tajik Service that his client's 30-year sentence had been extended to a life sentence on August 27.
Teshaev was convicted of using scissors to murder Umar Qayumov, a warden who had asked him to come to his office at the prison in the southern city of Kulob and cut his hair.
At the time of that killing in February, the hairdresser was serving a 17 1/2-year sentence for killing a client with scissors at the salon where he worked.
Teshaev's lawyer said the court had extended his sentence to life in prison following a request from relatives of the victim
