Traders Protest Against New Tax Laws In Islamabad

Hundreds of traders rallied in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad, on September 29 to demand the government scrap new tax laws. The new laws introduced on September 19 give tax authorities the power to disable the mobile phone SIM cards or disconnect the electricity and gas supplies of anyone who is required to file a tax return but who does not appear on a so-called "Active Taxpayer List."
