Turkey Detains At Least 10 Suspected IS Recruiters

Reports from Turkey say police in Ankara have detained at least 10 people suspected of being recruiters for the Islamic State (IS) extremist group.

The state-run Anadolu Agency said counterterror squads carried out early morning operations on January 25 in the Turkish capital targeting suspected recruiters with links to IS forces.

Turkish authorities have blamed IS for the January 12 suicide bombing in a historic district of Istanbul that killed 10 tourists.

The extremist group is also believed to be behind the twin suicide bombings that killed 103 demonstrators in Ankara in October.

Turkey has been cracking down on suspected IS cells in the country and is stepping up efforts to seal its porous border with Syria.

It also allows anti-IS coalition aircraft to use its bases for bombing IS targets.
