Ukraine's Interior Minister Among 14 Dead In Helicopter Crash

Kyiv's regional governor said 29 people were also hurt, including 15 children, when the helicopter came down in a residential area in Brovary, on the capital's northeastern outskirts.

Bodies of the victims lie on the ground at the scene where the helicopter crashed in Brovary.

National Police Chief Ihor Klymenko said Interior Minister Denys Monastyrskiy, his deputy Yevhen Yenin, and State Secretary Yuriy Lubkovych were among those killed on January 18.

Locals react at the scene of the helicopter crash.

"There were children and...staff in the nursery at the time of this tragedy," Kyiv regional Governor Oleksiy Kuleba wrote on Telegram.

There was no immediate word on whether the crash was an accident or linked to Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine.

Nine of those killed were reportedly aboard the emergency services helicopter.

There was no immediate comment from Russia, whose troops invaded Ukraine last February, and Ukrainian officials made no reference to any Russian attack in the area at the time.

Dead bodies covered by blankets are seen in a kindergarten at the scene where the helicopter crashed.

Tributes of stuffed animals and flowers are seen at the site of the helicopter crash.

"For now, we are considering all possible versions of the helicopter crash accident," Prosecutor-General Andriy Kostin said on Telegram.

The investigation is being carried out by the Ukrainian Security Service, he said.
